- <Daily and Hidden Secrets> in Artist Statement -
In this project, I focus on ‘Water’ and an action - ‘Drink’, because water is one of the most important things in the all processes from expending natural ingredients to return everything back into nature. Water is widely connected to the backside of our life. Also, I interested very much in the tea culture, because to ‘Drink’, that action and that moment, has a special meaning in tea ceremony.
I have traveled to Taiwan for a year, and I tried to contact with someone who has a work related to the tea or who just likes to drink tea. And during taking a cup of tea with them, I collected various traces of tea, which are combined with her/his family’s unique atmosphere and personal memories, their local environment, religion and culture. Also I collected images of their stories, space and traces by texts, drawings and pictures like a dairy. At that moment, I understood little about Taiwan tea history.
